Dannielle Hille takes pride in calling Albany’s 6th District her home.
Dannielle moved to Albany in 2008 to pursue her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and quickly fell in love with the community. Since 2009, she has lived on the same street, and in 2024, she purchased the home next door to the apartment she once rented. Albany isn’t just where she lives; it’s Dannielle’s home.
Dannielle is the first person in her family to graduate from college. Raised in an immigrant household, she learned the value of hard work, resilience, and community at an early age. Those values continue to guide her service today.
For nearly a decade, Dannielle has been working in rehabilitation and counseling with the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision. Currently, she serves as a Supervising Offender Rehabilitation Coordinator. Her focus is on helping individuals break cyclical patterns, reconnect with their families, and build productive lives after incarceration. She believes that public safety should prioritize prevention, opportunities, and support, rather than solely relying on punishment.
Long before taking office, Dannielle was actively organizing her neighbors and advocating for meaningful change. She has:
- Led a successful campaign to ban personal fireworks in Albany County
- Organized community forums connecting residents directly with decision-makers
- Advocated for design changes to a local sewer treatment facility based on neighborhood input
- Worked to strengthen neighborhood engagement and civic participation
Dannielle believes that economic development should enhance the lives of the current residents rather than displace them. She advocates for genuinely affordable housing in all new developments, local hiring practices, and the use of union labor. Additionally, she supports strengthening small businesses, expanding mental health and substance use services, and revitalization efforts that do not lead to displacement.
Her guiding philosophy is simple: We are stronger together. Danielle believes government works best when it listens to residents, includes them in decision-making, and acts with integrity.
Dannielle has been a community volunteer for years, dedicating her time to work that needed to be done. Now, she is prepared to continue her efforts and advocate for a safer, more equitable, and more affordable future for the 6th District.
